Brian Solis pictured by Benjamin EllisHot and humid London on a Friday evening may not be the the most enticing-sounding moment for a B2B Huddle, but it didn’t stop nearly 70 hardy souls from being there and taking part in an enriching experience with special guest Brian Solis.

Microsoft’s excellent Customer Centre in London’s Victoria Street in the shadow of Buckingham Palace – you can see the flag that flies above the palace’s front facade – was the place for our informal gatherings on July 12, starting with a small-group roundtable followed by the larger open event in which Brian shared his thinking and insights on the continuing and evolving disruptive changes affecting businesses and people.

Thanks to our event sponsor, Dell, everyone there received a copy of Brian’s latest business book, What’s The Future Of Business?, published in March.

The book explores how connected consumerism breaks down into Four Moments of Truth, the role of technology in decision-making, and how businesses need to create experiences that mean something in each stage and also spark engagement between consumers based on those experiences.

The primary highlight of this B2B Huddle was Brian’s keynote speech that had everyone’s close attention for over 40 minutes. During that time, Brian took us on a journey that explored the future of business taking in perspectives on ‘digital Darwinism’ and the rise of the connected consumer, and with a vibrant message throughout on the need for vision and courage to enable and manage change.

We recorded the entirety of Brian’s presentation and Q&A session in audio, and that recording will be published this week as an FIR Speakers & Speeches podcast. People had plenty to say about what Brian said, not only those physically there but also others virtually, following along via the Twitter hashtag #b2bhuddle – you can get an idea of that in this Storify curation created by Rachel Miller:

On a final note, on behalf of my co-organiser Kerry Bridge and me, I’d like to give thanks once again to Brian Solis for his generosity with his time and in sharing his insights; and thank you to our event sponsor, Dell, and to our host, Microsoft.

I’m sure we’ll see more photos, tweets, and other content about Friday’s events appearing across the social web in the coming days. If you’d like to connect your content to the overall conversation, tag it with #b2bhuddle so we can easily discover it.
